Artist Statement
Is it possible to bypass presumptions and preconceived notions to begin with raw human emotion; and from there make intangible ideas a reality on canvas? This is what I desire to realize with every piece of art I make. The ideas that drive us, inspire us, and compose the human experience; these are the subjects of my work and are also the fuel of my inspiration. It seems only natural to paint in the abstract when motivated by the intangible; working to connect through vivid color, texture, and movement rather than something realist or defined.
Biography
Clayton was born in Denison, Texas, in 1980. Grew up watching his mother paint, and endeavored into the arts at a young age but has no formal training. Graduated in 2004 with a Bachelors Degree in Communication and Marketing from Dallas Baptist University and in 2005 he ventured from Planet, Texas to Los Angeles. He fell in love with the city of angels and his bride, Ms. Katie Diaz. Clayton and Katie now reside in Mid-City, Los Angeles with their four plants.
